In honor of the release of Kosovo 2.0’s third print magazine, Religion, Kosovo 2.0 will host a live talk show on the topic of religion on Monday, May 21. The evening will be a conversation on faith, that explores the rich diversity of traditions, histories, and practices that make up religious belief in Kosovo and abroad.
Moderated by Koha Vision’s Adriatik Kelmendi, Kosovo 2.0 will host five panelists from a wide variety of backgrounds. All of the panelists will present and discuss alternative views on the dynamics of religion, tradition, politics, and gender, providing a fertile ground for an open discussion on how these issues intertwine.
The panelists include:
Xhabir Hamiti, a professor of Koran Studies and Arabic language at the University of Prishtina’s Faculty of Islamic studies. Hamiti’s moderate views on Islam have made him a target of violence by more extreme religious groups in Kosovo.
Isak Vorgucic, a journalist and the general manager at KiM radio. Vorgucic contributed an article on the relationship between the media and the Serbian Orthodox Church to Kosovo 2.0 magazine’s religion edition. Vorgucic is also a former Orthodox monk.
Nita Luci, a lecturer at the University of Prishtina’s Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology. As the cofounder of Alter Habitus, an independent feminist Institute for Studies in Society and Culture, Luci will provide her perspective on the intersection between faith, society and gender.
Andrew Testa, a New York-based photographer with years of experience reporting from the Balkans. Testa created a photo essay exploring the dynamics of religion, ethnicity and conflict in the Balkans for Kosovo 2.0's Religion edition.
Matthew Brunwasser, an independent journalist based in Istanbul. Brunwasser contributed an article about Turkey’s efforts to transform male-dominated mosques into women-friendly places and increase the role of religion in daily life.
