Dozens of people were injured and more than 150 arrested Saturday after police and protesters clashed near the Kosovo’s border with Serbia at Merdare during a demonstration organised by the Kosovo Albanian nationalist Self-Determination movement. Self-Determination activists and supporters, who were attempting to block the flow of products from Serbia, accused the police of using excessive force on a peaceful demonstration. Police accused demonstrators of throwing rocks and other objects at officers. On Monday, hundreds of people appeared at the main government building in Prishtina to protest the police action.
