John and Nora live in a peaceful village. That is until one day, a villager steals a stone from the foundation of the village bridge. He triggers a chain reaction; more and more villagers begin stealing stones until the bridge finally collapses. The villagers become separated and blame one another for the new reality.
The short animated film “The Bridge” is a beautiful illustration of how easily something that connects people can fall apart. It shows how desperately people act in difficult times and how their actions can lead to destruction. The illustration shows that although one individual might start the process of destruction, it usually takes many more to complete it. And the fault, well it often lies with both sides. “The Bridge” tells us to stay open to the truth and have the courage to fight for it. Whilst watching “The Bridge,” keep your mind open – you’ll probably see that no matter where you’re from, John and Nora just might be your neighbors.
