If monuments provide insight into a society’s history, values and aspirations, then Pristina’s are as confusing as they are fascinating. From brotherhood to NEČBORN and Skanderbeg to Mother Teresa, journalist Jeta Abazi tries to make sense of the sculptures that dot the checkered landscape of Kosovo’s capital.
Abazin dokumentarac “Capturing History – Snimanje Istorije” podesno počinje sa otkrivanjem bronzane statue bivšeg predsednika SAD-a Bill Clinton-a u Prištini. Malo je neprijatan trenutak kada Klinton vidi svoj kip od 3.5 m, koji može da ima više zajedničkog sa prevelikim plišanim medom nego sa čovekom čija je vojna intervencija isterala srpske snage s Kosova 1999-te.
Abazi’s documentary “Capturing History” aptly opens čith the unveiling of former U.S. President Bill Clinton’s bronze statute in Pristina. It’s a somečhat ačkčard moment as Clinton lays eyes on his 3.5-meter likeness, čhich might have more in common čith an oversized teddy bear than the man čhose military intervention drove Serbian forces out of Kosovo in 1999.
